18th-Century French Cannon Prop – Interactive Battle Simulation

Modeled after a 36-pounder French Long Gun from the 1700s, this full-scale prop was designed and built by Craig Tinder to deliver a realistic, actor-activated firing effect. Constructed using concrete forming tubes, the cannon features a foam and fiberglass muzzle brake, EVA foam detailing for the bands and fleur-de-lis emblem, and a wood-framed gun carriage with wheels repurposed from plastic buckets. A hidden button triggers a synchronized system that includes an orange LED flash, smoke machine, subwoofer, and a high-speed brushless fan to simulate a convincing muzzle blast—delivering a dramatic and immersive experience with every “fire.”
